Uncover the best of the Identiverse in the historic city of Boston, one of the birthplaces of the U.S.—where visions were born and boundaries were broken.
The Identiverse. When I think about it, I’m reminded of this quote from the famed children’s movie, “Toy Story”. It elicits a vision that takes one’s mind beyond borders and boundaries to a place filled with excitement and joy that embraces the future—and the unknown.
For eight years, I’ve been proud to be associated with Cloud Identity Summit (CIS) and you, our CIS alumni, because as we’ve gathered each year as an industry, we’ve been pushing the boundaries of what’s possible in identity security. As practitioners and identity professionals, technologists, strategists, business and thought leaders, we’ve already been embracing a “to infinity and beyond” mindset. The road from Keystone in 2010 to Chicago in 2017 has been rewarding. Each year’s conference has been building upon the last. More people, bright minds and industry leaders have gathered to create a vision of a world where identity is invisible and less connected to just one thing, whether the cloud, a device or an on-premises application.
And all along, CIS itself has been evolving, from a 50-person gathering in a room to a summit attended by over 1400 delegates from around the globe. What started as a handful of vendor sponsors became a full expo hall with product demonstrations. What was a two-day meeting agenda with a singular focus on cloud identity turned into more than 200 presenters across four days covering topics touching on security, privacy, deployment tips and tricks, standards, mobile identity and much, much more.
It’s time to recognize this evolution and to begin the next stage of our journey.
It’s time to welcome you to the Identiverse—a digital world where people, applications and devices all recognize and interact with each other. A world that’s being built on a foundation of identity security, designed by a community of people with a shared vision, from technologists and practitioners to thought leaders and end users. The Identiverse lives and breathes every day, and once a year it really shines. And it’ll be especially brilliant at its inauguration in Boston—Identiverse 2018.
Like the “Toy Story” character Andy, we’re growing up. But we’re still the same inside! Rest assured, you can still expect engaging content, speakers, sessions and hands-on workshops from this annual gathering. Our family program, our traditions and our core ethos will continue. Our event’s name is changing, but the mission stays the same. Cloud Identity Summit served us well. But it’s time to embrace something bigger—a community, an Identiverse that lives year-round, and still summons the brightest minds in identity and security to gather once a year.
I encourage you to become an active part of this Identiverse community. Watch this site over the coming months for an opportunity to gather virtually, contribute to the conversation and learn about continued insights into the identity security industry. You can also join our Twitter, Facebook and LinkedIn groups and be part of the the conversation by using #Identiverse on Twitter. Let’s continue as professionals and colleagues to learn from each other, challenge each other and lean on each other. Let’s build a community with a shared mission that not only gathers once a year—but one that communicates over the course of it.
I’m excited to embrace my inner Buzz Lightyear and think beyond borders, boundaries and limits. I hope you are, too. I look forward taking this journey with you, and I can’t wait to see where the Identiverse takes us—my hope is that it’s to infinity and beyond.
